COVID-19: Ghanaian deacon in UK dies of coronavirus on his birthday (photos)

Kenneth Yeboah, 55, a Ghanaian indigene based in the UK has died of the deadly coronavirus.

He reportedly died on his birthday, April 1, 2020, while on admission at Newham Hospital.

Kenneth, a bus driver, is among the 10 London transport workers believed to have been killed by the COVID-19.

Graphic.com.gh reports that his wife, Charlotte Yeboah, told UK’s Evening Standard, that Kenneth was also a deacon at a church in Dagenham and had been ''lively and bubbly'' leading worship on stage a little over a week before being admitted to hospital.

Charlotte Yeboah disclosed that her husband had no underlying health problems beyond high blood pressure.

She added that the father of three had initially been in good spirits after becoming unwell and had not considered himself severely ill.

Kenneth had problems breathing and was put on oxygen before losing his battle for life on April 1, 2020.

Charlotte Yeboah prior to his demise was not even allowed to visit him although she kept calling him on phone.

''The last time I spoke to him I said, ‘just keep fighting’. In the end he was put on dialysis because his kidneys were stopping working,'' she said.

Charlotte Yeboah said not long before her husband went into the hospital, he had been singing in church.

''He had been lively and bubbly as always. It’s almost impossible to take in.''

''He was an amazing singer who was the life and soul of the church. He was a wonderful father and husband, an incredible family man. We all miss him so much. People have been calling us from around the world. He touched so many people’s lives. The response has been very moving,'' Charlotte said in a tribute to her husband.

Meanwhile, worldometers.info reports that the UK has 93,873 confirmed coronavirus cases with 12,107 deaths and no recoveries as of April 14, 2020.

In other news, the Ministry of Information as of Monday, April 13, 2020, reported that Ghana has a total number of 566 confirmed coronavirus cases.
