A video is rapidly trending on social media with some Ghanaian youth excitedly partying on the streets of Accra not long after the government lifted lockdown restrictions necessitated by the coronavirus.
President Nana Akuffo-Addo, during his 7th update on the coronavirus pandemic captioned, ''Measures taken against the spread of coronavirus”, indicated that the lockdown has been lifted effective 1am on Monday, April 20, 2020.
The president indicated that the decision is due to the newly developed capacities and measures that put government in the right position to better understand and manage the virus.
As a result, some young men were seen in jubilation over the president's decision to end the partial lockdown exercise.
The video showed the young men who appeared to be in their teens singing the praise of the president.
President Akufo-Addo, however, stated that lifting the lockdown did not mean that we will disregard safety measures.
