Professor Peter Twumasi, the National Sports Authority boss says the renovation of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium will continue as planned.

Baba Yara Sports Stadium was closed down or renovation works with works scheduled to be completed in October this year.
Works at the stadium was stalled due to the partial lockdown imposed on Accra and Kumasi.

Prof Peter Twumasi said the renovation work is expected to be completed in October so the clubs can have access to the facility.
"The lockdown affected the workers in Kumasi and Accra and now that it has been lifted we hope they will return to work. We are hoping by October the work will be completed so it will be handed over to the clubs", he said in an interview with the media.

The facility was recently fumigated as part of efforts to fight the COVID-19.
Baba Yara Sports Stadium which serves as a home venue to Ghanaian clubs Asante Kotoko and King Faisal, was closed down in February ahead of the 63rd Independence Day anniversary celebration which took place at the stadium.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has named Frank Amankwah, Samuel Osei Kuffour, Abedi Pele and himself among others in his all-time best Black Stars XI.
For the goalkeeper, he chose Richard Kingson and placed Frank Amankwah, Patrick Allotey, John Mensah and Samuel Osei Kuffour in defense.

Stephen Appiah who was affectionately called Tornado, placed Michael Essien and himself in the central midfield while putting Laryea Kingston and Sulley Muntari to the right and left wings respectively.
