MTN Group ranked as the best telecommunications brand on the continent

- MTN Group has received the best telecommunications brand award in Africa by Brand Finance

- Brand Finance gave MTN the award in recognition of its overall performance in unpredictable times

MTN has been recognized as the most valuable telecommunications brand in Africa, YEN.com.gh has learned.

The award was given by Brand Finance, a top independent brand valuation consultancy.

Brand Finance explained that MTN’s brand value was boosted by a solid overall performance in the light of challenging economic conditions and regulatory challenges in some markets.

The award was also in recognition of MTN’s focus on customers and the provision of high-quality service across all markets, a report by citibusinessnews.com shows.

MTN’s President and Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Rob Shuter, noted that the company is humbled by the recognition in the wake of unprecedented times in dealing with a global challenge.

The CEO of Brand Finance, David Haigh also stated that MTN deserves commendation for its performance its area of operation.

He also revealed that MTN’s brand strength rating has been upgraded from AAA- to AAA, due to its strong leadership position in its area of operation in Africa.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that MTN reported an increase in revenue for December 2019.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, the group revealed details of the results amid macroeconomic challenges in South Africa, where it is headquartered.

The company also announced that Rob Shuter, who serves as president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), would not renew his contract after March 2021.
