Management of Accra Hearts of Oak has denied reports making around that the club has signed a two-year contract with former Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari.
Rumours that the former AC Milan man had signed ahead of the start of the second round of the Ghana Premier League went viral on Friday, April 24, 2020
But the management said Sulley Muntari is a friend of Accra Hearts of Oak and therefore used the opportunity to call on their supporters and other stakeholders to be patient as the club unveils players they’ve signed.
Muntari has been training with the Accra based club for sometime now after ending his stay with Spanish lower tier side Albacete.
“@HeartsOfOakGH wants to notify the general sporting public that we have not signed Ghana International Sulley Muntari as it’s being reported by the media. Sulley is a great player and a friend of the club. We will continue to unveil the players we have signed,” the club posted on Twitter.
“@HeartsOfOakGH is the Premier club in Ghana and will continue to set the standards, we, therefore, urge our supporters not to rely on information unless it comes from our official handles.”
The 35-year old left Ghana as a teenager in 2002 to join Udinese before moving on to enjoy huge success in his career in Europe, where he played for the likes of AC Milan and Inter Milan.
The former Liberty Profesional star won several trophies in Europe, including club football’s biggest trophy, the UEFA Champions League.
He was also a member of the Portsmouth team that won the FA Cup in 2008. He scored the important winner in the semi-final against Manchester United.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Ghana midfielder Mubarak Wakaso had started training hard to keep in shape as we all wait for the world to begin local and international sporting activities again.
This happens to be the first intense training Wakaso has had after returning from lockdown.
In a photo sighted by YEN.com.gh, Wakaso was seen relaxing after training with former Black Stars midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari.
