Tema robbery: Police arrest 19 persons in connection to incident

The Tema Regional Police Command has picked up 19 persons in connection with the robbery that occurred in the Tema metropolis,Thursday, April 23, 2020

Among these 19 suspected masterminds of the broad daylight robbery is a woman.

Out of the nineteen persons arrested, 4 persons were identified as eyewitnesses that scrambled for banknotes which were flying around.

According to a Daily Guide report, the Police said the suspects in their custody would be charged with dishonestly receiving and stealing.

The Police, however, indicated that more than GH¢100,000 out of the GH¢123,000, is strangely missing.

The Crime Officer of the Tema Regional Police Command, ACP Paul Frimpong, confirmed the arrests in an interview with DAILY GUIDE, and said that one of the deceased robbers had been identified, but said they were not releasing his identity for now because they were following some leads in the case.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that police from the Tema Regional Police Command gunned down one suspected armed robber and injured another in a shoot out who eventually died.

The robbers were reported to have tracked down some two businessmen who went to withdraw money at a bank within the Tema Metropolis.

The Lebanese businessman and his partner according to a report filed by JoyNews, are importers who deal in frozen fish at the Tema Fishing Harbour who went to withdraw GH¢123, 000.
