Lionel Messi among top 25 world's most expensive players amid coronavirus pandemic

Lionel Messi's value in the transfer market has tumbled owing to the economic crisis caused by the outbreak of deadly coronavirus.

The 32-year-old's current price tag stands below £101 million and this also affects several other top players in the industry.

SunSport reports that the Barcelona legend is the only player above the age of 30 in the list of most expensive stars in the world at the moment.

Manchester United top target Jadon Sancho, Kai Havertz as well as Atletico Madrid star Joao Felix are the youngest to feature with the trio aged just 20.

The most conspicuous name missing on the list of 25 most valued player is Juventus superstar Cristiano Ronaldo.

Meanwhile, Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappe tops the chart with £162 million as against his previous valuation worth £180m.

England and Manchester City winger Raheem Sterling is next with a price tag of about £115 million - a £28 million reduction from his previous price £144m. Same as Brazil forward Neymar.

Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah are fourth and fifth respectively with a current value of £108 million as against their previous £135m.

Messi sits one spot above Liverpool's Trent Alexander-Arnold in the ninth position with £101 million, about £25m from what he was valued at before COVID-19.

Eden Hazard is the only Real Madrid player in the list and he is valued at £72 million - £18m from his previous valuation of £90.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Kylian Mbappe has become a prime target for Real Madrid as the Spanish giants are willing to offer PSG a €280million world record fee, reports in France claim.

According to French media outlet France Football, Zinedine Zidane has singled out the 20-year-old forward as the player to reinforce his squad for next season.

France Football added that negotiations are expected to commence next week with the move expected to make headlines in the next few months.
