I don't own Azonto - Sarkodie replies Gasmilla

Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie has replied his fellow rapper Gasmilla over the originator of the Azonto genre.

Gasmilla had earlier stated that he was the originator of 'Azonto' music and not Sarkodie as many people are trying to claim.

Gasmilla also felt offended that Sarkodie did not personally call him to join the #BringBackAzonto campaign, therefore, he will not be part of it.

But in an interview on Okay FM and monitored by YEN.com.gh, Sarkodie stated that he has never laid claim over the 'Azonto' genre because he is not the one who created it.

The 'Fa Hooki Me' hitmaker added that if he starts a campaign and people do not feel obliged to join, there is nothing he can do about it

Sarkodie was also quick to add that he does not have any beef with Gasmilla. He said the 'Telemo' hitmaker even has an unreleased song him which was recorded in 2019.

The #BringBackAzonto campaign became a social media trend after rapper Sarkodie said there’s a need to revive the ‘Azonto’ genre.

After his call, a few other musicians like E.L and Stay Jay among others decided to help push the campaign and have already released 'Azonto' songs to that effect.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Ghanaian comedian and actor Funny Face has accepted to join rapper Sarkodie's #BRINGBACKAZONTO challenge.

Funny Face urged Sarkodie to be on the standby with his rap verse since he will be releasing an Azonto song soon.

The 'Kasoa Trotro' actor added that eats and sleep Azonto, therefore, he is ever ready to release an Azonto song.
