COVID-19 inventions: Old Ghanaian man invents powerful handwashing device made with bamboo canes

Since the first coronavirus pandemic case was first recorded in Ghana on March 11, 2020, a lot of Ghanaians have brought out a lot of inventions which has made handwashing quite easy.

Ranging from a solar-paneled handwashing device to sensory handwashing buckets, YEN.com.gh has sighted an incredible handwashing device made from bamboo canes.

The handwashing device was made by an old man believed to be in his 60's known as Agya Baah.

Demonstrating the use of the invention, Agya Baah gently pressed his leg on a lever which according to him, would cause water to flow from the woven water dispenser unto his hands.

According to him, the device has been made in such a way that the water continues running for 10 seconds.

He explained that the water already has soap mixed with it so that one does not come into contact with anything.

Interestingly the dustbin is also made with the same materials and is also operated with the leg lever.

The invention has received a lot of attention on social media and Ghanaians have lauded Agya Baah for his great initiative.

William said there must be systems in place to reward things like this.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded 403 more cases of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19, sending the total number of confirmed cases to 2,074 from the previous 1,671 recorded.

According to the official website of the Ghana Health Service, the total number of recoveries, as well as deaths, have also changed to 212 and 17 respectively.

88% of all the cases reported have not had any travel history as only 12% have been traced to some evidence of travel.
