These are the kind of stories we want to hear. An elderly woman, Julia Dewilde, was discharged from the hospital after beating the coronavirus.

According to, Dewilde tested negative for Covid-19 only days after celebrating her 100th birthday and she was allowed to go home.

A heart-warming video was shared on Twitter showing medical staff at the Bois de l'Abbay hospital in Belgium applauding Dewilde as she leaves the facility.

Dewilde was born during the Spanish flu - which stretched from 1918 to 1920. Over the past weekend, the centenarian celebrated her 100th birthday and days later she received the good news that she no longer has COVID-19.

She will now return to her retirement home where Dewilde's loved ones can visit her. Her recovery has given the hard-working health workers hope.

A nurse, Laura Bertrand, who followed Dewilde's case since she was admitted to the hospital, opened up about what the 100-year-old's recovery meant.

Bertrand said:

“She’s one of our greatest successes. It’s heartwarming." previously reported on another elderly lady who managed to beat the coronavirus shortly before celebrating her 100th birthday.
