COVID-19: Trevor Noah to pay salaries to The Daily Show crew despite lockdown

Trevor Noah is our South African international comedian. Staying safe, Trevor is keeping a safe distance from his crew and at the same time doing right by them.
The Daily Show is Trevor's baby. It is the thing that put him on the global map and made him one of the world's most well-known comedians.
YEN.com.gh learnt that a source told Variety that Trevor is personally paying salaries of furloughed crew members of The Daily Show during the industry-wide production shutdown. The 25 crew members will have a salary during lockdown due to Covid-10 pandemic until production business opens again.

Variety was also told that the crew have been working on the show with Trevor from day one and were also responsible for helping put the show together. The source went on to say that it was Trevor’s decision to personally see to it that salaries were paid and would do so until production business re-opens.
Trevor respects his crew tremendously and feels it’s the right thing to do in order for them to get through these difficult times together.
As so many fellow talk hosts have done since production has been halted, Trevor has been broadcasting . The writers, producers and production staff continue to contribute remotely.
The show has been re-titled The Daily Social Distancing Show With Trevor Noah. The in-studio crew members, camera operators, stage managers and audio technicians, unfortunately, with restrictions, are not able to be part of the new show.
Meanwhile, with the response the show has received, it was announced on Monday that they will be extending the show from 30 minutes to 45 minutes.
This will make the history books, as never before has a show’s time expanded beyond the 30 minutes time slot. Currently sitting at number one in late-night viewing, The Daily Show is very popular amongst 18 to 34-year-olds. Noah’s interview with Dr Anthony Fauci pulled in more than 43 millions views.
