Akufo-Addo arrives at Mayday venue; spotted in face mask for first time

- Ghana's president, Nana Akufo-Addo has been spotted in a face mask for the first time

- The picture was taken when the president arrived for the Mayday celebrations on this May 1, 2020

- Previously, Nana Addo used to protect himself from COVID-19 by abiding by other measures

Ghana's president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo arrived at the Mayday celebrations on this May 1, 2020, and was spotted in a nose mask for the very first time.

The minister of information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah shared the unseen photo of the president in a mask on his official Twitter handle in a post sighted by YEN.com.gh

Oppong Nkrumah mentioned that the mask the president put on was proudly made in Ghana as he continued to indicate that the entire Mayday event can be viewed on the Twitter handle "@thegbcghana".

Previously, the president attended various meetings and mini gatherings without a nose mask although there was the COVID-19 outbreak in Ghana.

Following the observation, Dr Patrina Techi-Ankrah, Ghana's President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's personal physician narrated how the president was strictly protected against COVID-19.

The medical doctor made the statements known at the press briefing that was held under the auspices of the Ministry of Information on April 1, 2020.

She indicated that although the president is not seen in masks or gloves during his meetings, all measures including regular hand-washing, social distancing and use of hand sanitizers, are put in place to ensure that Nana Addo is absolutely safe.

This makes it interesting that Nana decided to storm the Mayday venue with a face mask this time but it also appears that he's leading the fight against COVID-19 by example.

Meanwhile, Ghana has recorded 403 more cases of the novel coronavirus or COVID-19, sending the total number of confirmed cases to 2,074 from the previous 1,671 recorded. A

According to the official website of the Ghana Health Service, the total number of recoveries, as well as deaths, have also changed to 212 and 17 respectively.

88% of all the cases reported have not had any travel history as only 12% have been traced to some evidence of travel.
