NDC denies issuing letter on selection of Mahama's running mate; says it is fake

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has denied certain news items making rounds that the party has shortlisted some 5 persons who would possibly be selected as running mates of John Mahama for the upcoming 2020 elections.
The General Secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, in a statement, has asked Ghanaians to ignore a purported letter capturing names of some persons.
A purported letter making rounds on social media, named Kwame Awuah Darko, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Kwesi Ahwoi and Dr. Zanetor Agyeman Rawlings as potential running mate candidates.

Asiedu Nketia denied ever issuing such a letter and stated that the said letter is fake and just an attempt to distract the general public from more pressing issues.
“My attention has been drawn to a fraudulent fake letter on the selection of the 2020 NDC Running Mate, purported to be signed and issued by me. First of all, I have not issued any such statement. The general public is therefore advised to ignore any such frivolous and fictitious letter."
Asiedu Nketia, in the statement, also rejected claims of the formation of a special committee for considering the party’s running mate hopefuls.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the NDC's Special Vetting Committee tasked to come up with a list of possible candidates for the position of running mate are still working to come up with a formidable candidate.
The candidate mentioned in the said report and were to be considered included Mr. Kwame Awuah Darko, Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, Mr. Kwesi Ahwoi, and Dr. Zenator Rawlings.
However, former president John Dramani Mahama in a recent interaction on Facebook said he will name his running mate at the appropriate time.
