The COVID-19 pandemic has put a halt to a lot of things that include graduations, weddings, family gatherings and services at places of worship.

People were forced to become more creative when it came to exchanging their vows and now attending graduation ceremonies.

A family from Florida, USA were not willing to let the achievement of their kin go without being celebrated so they came up with a clever method of celebration.

Trent Johnson Juniour recently graduated with a degree in medicine from Ohio State College of Medicine.

However, the school’s commencement ceremony had to be cancelled due to increased COVID-19 infections in the country, FOX News reported.

That left him in shock and he was completely disappointed by the sudden turn of events. He was officially a doctor but could not mark the occasion with his friends and family.

“I was in shock... I actually went into my room, and I cried,” he said.

Trent’s squad of 40 had planned to fly into the state to celebrate his big day but as fate would have it, their plans did not come to fruition.

“I was expecting around 40 people to fly into Columbus for this celebration, so they were pretty bummed they could not come,” he added.

What broke his heart was he was the first person in his family to graduate.

His kin were not ready to let him miss out on the experience of receiving his award and celebrating it so they created a mini commencement ceremony in their living room.

They blew some balloons shaped as 2020, bought confetti and decorated the whole room.

They then asked him to walk to the front while dressed in his academic regalia and got the whole thing on video.

When Trent shared the clip, everyone on social media was touched and it immediately went viral.
