In the wake of new coronavirus cases being detected in the Premier League, Tottenham star Danny Rose has stated that players are being treated like mere lab rats.

A number of players have aired their opinion on the proposed restart of the league, but Rose believes players are at great risk of contracting the virus.

The latest figures have it that over 35,000 people have died from the infection in the UK alone with close to 250,000 confirmed cases.

Danny Rose who is currently on loan at Newcastle has charged that returning to the pitch will be making him risk his health just to entertain others.

"I could be potentially risking my health for people's entertainment and that's not something I want to be involved in if I'm honest," he said during the lockdown tactics podcast, cited on SkySports.

"I'm dying to get back to football but just with the things that are happening right now, people are going through this coronavirus pandemic a lot worse than me, I don't want to be complaining about everything.

"Just off the fact that people are suggesting we should go back to football like we're guinea pigs or lab rats. We're going to experiment with this phase and see if it works or not.

"I can just imagine people at home saying, 'well they earn that amount of money so they should be going back."

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Premier League was dealt a blow on Tuesday, May 19, after six positive coronavirus cases were recorded among three clubs.

This came as the top flight prepares for a resumption, which is currently slated for June. Reports from England indicate up to 748 staff and players were tested, with six of the tests coming out positive.

Names of the players and staff have not been made public.

The latest development sums up the challenges facing the Premier League which has been suspended since March 13.

A total of 92 fixtures remain and officials were optimistic a restart in June was very possible.

Quite a number of clubs have already resumed small-group training ahead of the expected restart, although there are still glaring concerns ahead of the restart.
