Woman in Kumasi dies in car crash after police chase driver for not wearing nose mask

- A 65-year-old mother has perished in a car crash in Kumasi after her sprinter was involved in an accident that resulted from a chase by police

- The driver had not put on a nose mask which caused the police officers to go after him when he tried to flee

- The woman suffered a neck injury in the accident and was later confirmed to have passed away at the Manhyia Government Hospital

Abrefi Fremah, a 65-year-old mother has perished in a car crash in Kumasi after a sprinter she was in was given a chase by police as the driver did not wear a nose mask, which is a measure being enforced around the country to contain the spread of COVID-19.

A report sighted by YEN.com.gh on Ghanaweb indicates that the incident occurred on Tuesday, May 19, 2020, on the Kenyasi/Abirem road in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region.

In an attempt to outrun the police for not putting on a nose mask, the driver lost control of his steering wheel and rammed into a stationary truck on the shoulder of the road.

The survivors were taken to the Kenyasi Health Center for treatment whilst Fremah was referred to the Manhyia Government Hospital by the police patrol team after she reportedly fell unconscious.

The driver of the vehicle with registration number AS 3792-19, was arrested but allowed to receive treatment at the Kenyasi Health Center under police guard.

Alfred Addai, the third son of the deceased narrated the painful incident in the words,

“My mother felt unconscious after suffering neck injuries and she was confirmed dead by medics when we arrived at the Manhyia Government Hospital.”

Reports indicate that the 65-year-old mother was on her way to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital to see a relative when she met her untimely death.

In other news, Lawrence, a Ghanaian visually impaired farmer has demonstrated how he has been able to go about all his farming duties without any assistance from anyone.

In a short documentary sighted by YEN.com.gh on the Facebook handle of JoyNews, the 60-year-old man indicated that he has been living alone without any wife or child for God knows how long.

According to him, he tried everything possible to get a partner but was not able to because of his state of disability.
