The New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, has revealed that his party is awarding all the 'juicy' contracts to members of its political opponents at the expense of their own.

In an interview with JoyNews, the businessman noted that when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) were in power, they marginalized the NPP, so he expected his party to do the same but that isn’t the reality, something he admits, irks him.

NDC stayed in power for eight years and sidelined NPP people…So if you want to balance the equation, NPP in power also needs to resource its people for eight years.

“But the current NPP government is dealing more with the NDC and I have a problem with it,” he noted.

According to the MP, it was former president John Dramani Mahama who instructed that he be paid $14m for a contract he had executed in 2008.

But Mr. Agyapong said his wife was harassed and it took the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to validate his claims after his wife appeared before them 77 times for questioning.

The firebrand legislator also revealed that he will quit politics after the 2024 general election.

He said the rationale behind his decision to resign from active politics in 2024 was simple. “Going to parliament was the most stupid job on earth apart from being an assemblyman.”
