A woman has taken to social media to thank her son for helping out the family with groceries recently. The 18-year-old is the breadwinner in the family and provided food for his sister and unemployed mother.
Kerry-lee Lombard shared her gratitude on the #ImStaying Facebook group.
"My son is 18 and doesn't stay with me. He works and this month on his payday he showed up with groceries for mum and his sister."
She said that she didn't ask for the groceries and that the teen did it out of love.
"We are so very grateful for good kids."
She went on to publicly thank her son, Kaid Rouse, for being "an amazing young man". The woman said his perseverance and determination make her proud.
"You are only 18 but you work so hard and the fact that you are working and completing your matric... I couldn't be more proud."
Her post inspired social media users who praised his son for thinking about his family. Facebook user Jackie Zimmermann said:
"You raised a great man! Well done to your son..."
Kay Wehmeyer said:
"You have a wonderful son! How kind and thoughtful of him to think of you during tough times! Bless him!"
Victor Ntlatseng said:
"That's what we need to instil in our young men. Thank you for showing us that there are young men out there who are responsible."
