Nigerian COVID-19 survivor shares experience, says disease is real
- A Nigerian Covid-19 survivor, Olubunmi Adefisayo, has said that the virus is no joke and when he caught it, he lost the sense of smell and taste
- After he was moved to an isolation centre by the NCDC, his neighours were tested and staff of the supermarket he had visited
- Olubunmi told Nigerians that it is dangerous to keep following false information about the virus, asking them to only believe credible sources

A Nigerian with the name, Olubunmi Adefisayo, a Covid-19 survivor, has shared his experience with the deadly disease.
He said it all started when he started feeling the symptoms of the virus first week of April, noticing that he had lost all sense of taste and smell.
A check online confirmed his fears and he had to quickly call the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) for proper testing. His result came back positive two days after.
Olubunmi said that throughout the waiting period, he was filled with heavy tension. His symptoms were not grave as he was taken to the isolation centre in Yaba, Nigeria Health Watch reports.
The Covid-19 survivor warned people against taking the whole pandemic as a joke, dissuading them from following conspiracy theories about it.
"My symptoms were very mild. Many people think that when you catch the coronavirus, you will die or experience debilitating symptoms. It is very bizarre that people don’t believe there is a virus. I find it very strange. It is not a joke," he said.
Some of his neighbours were tested and their results were negative. The Lagos state team also went to the supermarket he had earlier on visited to test their staff, but their result was not made known.
“Anyway, I live in my apartment alone so I was worried about my neighbours. What if they contracted the disease from me? From touching the same gate as I did or something. Some of my neighbours were tested but luckily their results were negative,” he said.
He recalled how a man in his 70s was brought into the centre “in a bad shape” with a breathing problem. After spending a night with them, he was taken away and none of them knew what happened to him.

Meanwhile, a Nigerian man with the Twitter name Oluwatimilehin narrated his experience as a coronavirus survivor.
He said coronavirus is indeed big as he appealed to the general public not to take it lightly, asking them to abide by all the protective measures.
Oluwatimilehin said that though he was asymptomatic all through, not many who were admitted were lucky.
He said that he has had to face the stigma regarding his health status, a thing he said he expected to happen.
The Covid-19 survivor, therefore, appreciated all the health officials, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, and the government for how they have handled the pandemic so far.
