Chelsea continued their fine form in the warm-up games before the start of the Premier League on June 17, following a 7-1 thrashing of Queens Park Rangers.

The match which was played at their Cobham training ground saw Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour score a brace each and the likes of Mason Mount, Willian, Loftus-Cheek and Olivier Giroud also got on the scoresheet.

Frank Lampard's were in a commanding position as they took a 4-1 half-time lead courtesy of goals from Mount, Willian, Loftus-Cheek and Giroud.

Loftus-Cheek continued his fine form in the second half before Scottish teenager added a brace in the second half to complete the onslaught.

N'Golo Kante played his second game for the Blues since returning to full-contact training and a host of other top players had their fair share of opportunities to feature in the match.

Chelsea travel to the Midlands to take on relegation-threatened Aston Villa at Villa Park when the Premier League returns.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported that Chelsea are gearing up for their return to action in the Premier League following a 1-0 win over Championship side Reading in a warm-up friendly.

With a week-and-half left to play their remaining matches in the top-flight division, Frank Lampard's side defeated the second-tier club with a lone goal coming from Pedro Rodriguez.

N'golo Kante returned to the team after initially refusing to train due to the spread of coronavirus and the likes of Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Billy Gilmour were also on parade.

Also Dres Mertens has written his name in the history books of Napoli after scoring against Inter Milan in the Coppa Italia semi finals.

The Belgian winger has now overtaken Slovakian star Marek Hamsik to become the Napoli's all-time goalscorer.
