Ghana's tourism minister, Barbara Oteng Gyasi, has asked African-Americans to move to Ghana and experience total freedom and peace as opposed to being in the United States.

This was reported by Blackhistory.com in a post sighted by YEN.com.gh and the report suggests that the tourism minister of Ghana made the statement as a solution to the many unfair treatments Black Americans get.

It is indicated that Barbara Oteng Gyasi made the statement at the ceremony honouring the death of George Floyd which was held at the W.E.B Du Bois Memorial Centre for Pan-African Culture in the city of Accra.

“We gather in solidarity with brothers and sisters to change the status quo. Racism must end. We pray and hope that George Floyd’s death will not be in vain but will bring an end to prejudice and racial discrimination across the world,” Oteng Gyasi said.

She further added, “We continue to open our arms and invite all our brothers and sisters home. Ghana is your home. Africa is your home. We have our arms wide open ready to welcome you home. Please take advantage, come home, build a life in Ghana. You do not have to stay where you are not wanted forever, you have a choice and Africa is waiting for you.”

This comes just a year after Ghana's Year of Return which was an initiative that accommodated thousands of blacks in the diaspora to Ghana where many slaves were sent out into the foreign lands.
