President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged his party, the NPP, to ensure that it comes out of the June 20, 2020, primaries safe and stronger.

He noted that the primaries is a perfect opportunity to show Ghanaians that it is possible to conduct an electoral process that will guarantee the safety of all even in the midst of the pandemic which has bedeviled the world.

Nana Addo, therefore, urged the party to respect the enhanced hygiene and the social distancing protocols the Electoral Commission has put in place to guarantee the safety of everyone.

Akufo-Addo also prayed the NPP to come as a united family ready for ‘battle’ come December 7, 2020, in the general elections.

We have a collective responsibility to demonstrate to the country, once again, our credentials of being the party with the strongest attachment to the principles of democratic accountability. We dare not fail the Ghanaian people,” President Akufo-Addo said in a statement.

The NPP will be organizing the second phase of the party’s parliamentary primaries on Saturday, June 20. The party has already held primaries in constituencies that didn’t have sitting parliamentarians - “Orphan Constituencies”.

The NPP primaries will be held within the electoral areas to ensure enhanced social distancing and COVID-19 safety protocols.
