Just in: Effiduase primaries disrupted by candidate over bloated register accusation

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary primaries has been disrupted.

Reports have it that one of the two candidates in the primaries, Lawyer Kwame Adom-Appiah, together with some people, drove to the polling center and picked up the album being used for elections.

It is said that he reportedly said if that album was used, the election would not be free and fair.

The Returning Officer at the polling station who spoke to Wontumi Radio and wanted to remain anonymous confirmed the said incident.

Reports also have it that there is a policeman stationed at the center but he could do little to save the situation.

Some updates on the issue has it that Lawyer Adom-Appiah indicated that some 10 names on the album had been illegally placed on it since he did not have such names in his personal list.

Other reports also have it that a new list from an unknown source had been provided with a bloated figure, leading to the confusion.

The Effiduase primaries is between incumbent Nana Ayew Afriye and legal practitioner Kwame Adom-Appiah

The primaries which are being held in 100 constituencies today, June 20, 2020.
