Update on NPP primaries in Effiduase: Lawyer beaten; polling agent arrested

Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Effiduase, Lawyer Kwame Adom-Appiah, has been reportedly beaten with one arrest made.

It is further reported that the lawyer's polling agent for the election has also been arrested following some misunderstanding and near fisticuffs at the election center.

According to reports received on Joy FM's News File and monitored by YEN.com.gh, Lawyer Kwame Adom-Appiah has reportedly been injured after he was accosted for disrupting the electoral process.

His polling agent, whose identity is yet to be known, is in police custody with many people going to the police station to find out why he is there.

It is also yet to be known which people reportedly manhandled the candidate and why his polling agent has been locked up.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary primaries has been disrupted.

Reports had it that one of the two candidates in the primaries, Lawyer Kwame Adom-Appiah, together with some people, drove to the polling center and picked up the album being used for elections.

It is said that he reportedly said if that album was used, the election would not be free and fair.

The Returning Officer at the polling station who spoke to Wontumi Radio and wanted to remain anonymous confirmed the said incident.

Reports also have it that there is a policeman stationed at the center but he could do little to save the situation.

The Effiduase primaries is between incumbent Nana Ayew Afriye and legal practitioner Kwame Adom-Appiah
