NPP Primaries: Massive confusion hits voting at Quarshie Idun polling center in Bantama

YEN.com.gh has gathered that a fight erupted at Quarshie Idun polling center in the Bantama constituency on June 20, 2020, during the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary primaries.

According to citinewsroom.com, the fight was triggered after some delegates were prevented from voting.

The ongoing Bantama constituency contest is between current Member of Parliament, Daniel Okyem Aboagye and Deputy Chief of Staff, Francis Asenso-Boakye.

Prior to the elections, Daniel Okyem Aboagye alleged manipulation of the constituency register.

He claimed that delegates who are now officers of the BNI are allowed to vote at some of the centres.

There was exchange of blows at the Quarshie Idun polling centre when one of the party members who worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was allegedly prevented from voting by polling agents of Okyem Aboagye.

Reinforcement of Police arrived at the Quarshie Idun Polling station to bring the situation under control.

Meanwhile, YEN.com.gh earlier reported that parliamentary aspirant of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Effiduase, Lawyer Kwame Adom-Appiah, has been reportedly beaten with one arrest made.

It is further reported that the lawyer's polling agent for the election has also been arrested following some misunderstanding and near fisticuffs at the election center.

According to reports received on Joy FM's News File and monitored by YEN.com.gh, Lawyer Kwame Adom-Appiah has reportedly been injured after he was accosted for disrupting the electoral process.
