Former MUISGA president Bice Osei Kuffuor, popularly known as Obour, has lost the New Patriotic Party's parliamentary candidate-elect for the Asante Akyem South Constituency in the Ashanti region.

He lost to the incumbent MP, Mr Kwaku Asante Boateng, who was pursuing a third term bid and three other contestants.
Initial reports had indicated that Obour had the elections but it later turned out that his dream could not be fulfilled.
The results as declared had the incumbent polling 360 votes while Obour fell short by 66 votes polling 296.
The other contestants, William Yamoah, Edmond Oppong Peprah, and Eric Amoafa, polled 32, nine, and eight votes respectively.
In other interesting results, Deputy Majority Leader Sarah Adwoa Safo has defeated Ghana's High Commissioner to India Mike Oquaye Jnr in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary primaries in Dome Kwabenya.
In the keenly contested primary held on Saturday, June 20, 2020, Adwoa Safo polled 496 against Oquaye's 488 votes.
