The Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of the Korle Bu Teaching hospital, Dr. Daniel Asare has tested positive for COVID-19.

Citi News sources say the CEO has been out of office for the past 10 days as a result.

The Medical Director of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Dr. Ali Samba who is also a National coordinator of Ghana COVID-19 case management team has been designated to act in his stead.

Dr.Asare has become one of the latest government officials `to contract the coronavirus disease which has so far claimed the lives of 95 persons.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu had contracted the coronavirus disease and was receiving treatment at the University of Ghana Medical Centre.

In a Facebook post, the minister indicated that he was doing well and responding to treatment as well.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Education, Matthew Opoku Prempeh is said to be in self-isolation after suspected to have contracted the coronavirus disease.

His decision to self-isolate at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) comes after he undertook a voluntary test immediately he returned from his constituency.

Confirming the development to Onua FM, the Deputy Public Relations Officer for the Ministry of Education, Kwasi Obeng-Fosu, said the Minister decided to conduct the test after he was acclaimed in his constituency over the weekend, Saturday, June 20, 2020.
