Prof Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s name had come up several among others as likely candidates to be selected as running mate, and if she is finally confirmed, she becomes the first female to be selected as running mate in the history of the NDC.
She was chosen over Dr. Kwabena Duffuor, who is deemed to be favoured by the grassroots of the party.
This the first time any of the two major political parties is going into an election with a woman on the presidential ticket.
If the NDC emerges victorious in the December 2020 polls, she will be the first female Vice President of Ghana.
