Accra girls: 55 persons test positive for COVID-19 after contact tracing of 6 students

- 55 persons at the Accra Girls SHS have tested positive for the COVID-19

- The 55 persons included teachers and students

- 314 persons who were traced after coming into contact with the first 6 cases recorded cases

Information reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that 55 persons have tested positive for the COVID-19 after coming into contact with infected persons.

A total of 55 out of the 314 persons who were traced after coming into contact with the first 6 cases recorded in Accra Girls Senior High School tested positive.

A joint statement issued by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Ghana Educations Service (GES), dated Monday, July 13, 2020, said the infected persons comprise students and staff at the school.

Fortunately, 259 persons tested negative.

According to the statement, all the infected persons have been separated from the other students who have not contracted the virus.

Last week, pandemonium broke out at the Accra Girls Senior High School after news broke of 6 students contracting the coronavirus.

The students in their bid to express their fear of being kept off campus, demonstrated demanding to be sent back home to their parents,

Meanwhile, scores of parents on hearing the news thronged the school premises to demand the school authorities to release their wards to them.

The refusal of the school authorities to do that caused a lot of the parents to grow furious as they did not understand why the school authorities refused to let them go.

The education ministry, on the other hand, calmed the parents and explained that the situation was being managed quite well.
