NDC running mate: Ghanaians react to Chairman Wontumi’s comment that Afia Schwar is better than Jane Opoku

- Ghanaians have lashed out at Chairman Wontumi over his recent comments on the NDC running mate development

- He said Afia Schwar is a better choice than Prof Naana Opoku-Agyemang

- Some people have found his comment to be unacceptable and said this can affect the NPP’s chances in the 2020 polls

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Chairman Wontumi, has been chastised by some Ghanaians over remarks he made about the National Democratic Congress (NDC) running mate.

Commenting on the NDC’s choice of Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang as John Mahama’s running mate for the 2020 elections, Chairman Wontumi said comedienne and actress, Afia Schwarzenegger, is a better candidate.

He claimed that Afia Schwar is known to have a lot more achievements than Opoku-Agyemang.

To him, the NDC did not take Ghanaians seriously with his choice.

However, his comments have not gone well with many well-meaning Ghanaians and some have called him names.

Meanwhile, the Communications Manager of the NPP, Yaw Buabeng Asamoah, has also spoken on the issue.

He called out Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, giving reasons why she is not the right person for that position.

Asamoah listed some reasons he thinks it was wrong for the NDC to have chosen Naana as Mahama’s running mate.
