Kanye West can still be the president of the Unites States of America by the end of 2020. After a back-and-forth which involved him allegedly not registering in time, it has now been reported that the rapper registered his candidacy in the state of Oklahoma on Wednesday.
According to TMZ, Kanye had filed the ‘Form 1 Statement of Organisation’ with the Federal Election Commission (FEC). This form is a declaration that the Kanye Committee will head the campaign for his candidacy.
The media mogul is yet to file the follow-up form which will show whether his team has has raised $5 000 or more in campaign activity under federal campaign law.
Kanye managed to make the deadline by registering his candidacy in the state of Oklahoma on Wednesday, 15 July.
According to The Guardian, a representative filed the documents and paid $35 000 to run as an independent candidate.
It previously reported that the rapper had pulled out of the race.
According to reports, the 43-year-old hired staff to try to get him on the ballot in several states. They were working in Florida and other states which have a July deadline to be included on the ballot as a third-party candidate.
West had already missed the deadline in several states and staffers claimed he had pulled out.
In other presidential news, POTUS' daughter Ivanka Trump has been blasted on Twitter after an image she posted.
Ivanka posted a picture of herself holding a can of Goya beans with the caption, "It's it's Goya, it has to be good" in English and Spanish. Twitter users who had called for a boycott of Goya because of comments from the CEO then began giving Trump a piece of their minds.
Goya is an American producer of foods sold in the United States and many other Hispanic countries. She also posted the image on her Facebook and Instagram pages.
The post comes days after Goya CEO Robert Unanue praised President Trump during an event last week at the White House. Unanue said:
"We're all truly blessed at the same time to have a leader like President Trump, who is a builder."
