Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called on head potters not to allow themselves to be disrespected.
Her comments come after the New Patriotic Party's(NPP) General Secretary, John Boadu, said only head potters will recognise her in public if she decided to take a tour in Accra, indicating that she was unpopular and not recognizable among Ghanaians.
Speaking during a visit by the minority women caucus to congratulate her following her nomination, Prof Opoku-Agyemang asked the Kayayes to protect their dignity.
“I want you to know that your name is not Kayayei, you have proper names, you deserve the respect like anybody else, don’t let anybody to disrespect you.
“Believe that whatever you are doing in whatever category it is as important as any level, so be confident in yourself. If you didn’t get there, let children be there,” she said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, however, assured the women present of inclusive governance by a future NDC administration.
In other news, the founder of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Jerry John Rawlings, has congratulated Professor Jane Naana Opoku Agyemang on her selection as running mate for the NDC.
Rawlings said that even though he had a few other candidates in mind, there was no need to stand against the party's decision.
