The chief executive officer of Tesla, Elon Musk, has become the fifth richest man in the world after his net worth hit $74 billion on Monday afternoon, July 20.

Tesla's shares hit $1,643.00 - a 300 percent increase since January 2020 and up 60 percent since the end of June, Daily Mail reports.

YEN.com.gh gathers that Tesla is now worth more than General Motors, Ford, BMW, and Ferrari combined and has surpassed every rival to become the world's highest-valued automaker.

In March 2020, Musk was worth just under $25 billion and stood at 31 on Forbes' rich list. Since then his wealth has tripled.

Musk is trailing Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook who is the fourth richest man in the world. Bill Gate of Microsoft is the third richest man, while Bernard Arnault is the second world's richest man. Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world.

In other news, the world’s richest man, Jeff Bezos, has added a whopping $13 billion to his fortune on Monday, July 20, the largest wealth growth for an individual since Bloomberg Billionaires Index was created in 2012.

On the same day, Amazon’s shares jumped to 7.9%, the most it has been since December 2018.

It should be noted that Bezos, the founder of Amazon, has had his fortune greatly increase from $74 billion in 2020 to $189.3 billion, despite the US economy being hit hard due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Meanwhile, YEN previously reported that a Ghanaian man found himself in a dilemma after his wife decided to pack out of their matrimonial home until his financial situation gets much better.

The man whose name has not been disclosed recounted his interesting but sad love story in a letter to popular relationship talk show Sister Sister on CitiTV and CitiFM.

According to the heartbroken husband, he and his wife who works as a banker have been married for six years with two children so far.
