Each and every day, Black women are chalking laudable academic success with hard-earned degrees. Dr Andrea Simon just made herself and family proud by joining the ranks.

Dr Simon, a counselling director at Woodside High School in Newport News Public School, recently graduated from a renowned university with her PhD.

The hardworking woman, who has an intense passion for what she does as an educationist and counsellor, successfully completed her dissertation titled Quasi-School Leaders: The Lived Experiences of High School Counselling Directors and Their Roles in Schools.

In a recent post on Facebook, the Educational Leadership Program at Old Dominion University affirmed that Dr Simon’s dissertation committee members were Dr Karen L. Sanzo (chair), Dr William Owings (committee member), and Dr Tim Grothaus (committee member).

Congratulations to Dr. Andrea Simon! Dr. Simon successfully defended her dissertation today titled Quasi-School Leaders: The Lived Experiences of High School Counseling Directors and Their Roles in Schools.

Dr. Simon's dissertation committee members were Dr. Karen L. Sanzo (chair), Dr. William Owings (committee member), and Dr. Tim Grothaus (committee member). Dr. Simon is the School Counseling Director at Woodside High School in Newport News Public Schools.

After successfully completing her work, Dr Simon has earned her PhD. She is definitely a woman worth emulating.

The surgeon scientist recently graduated from the Neuroplastic and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship programme at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in the USA.
