Ghanaian actor, Prince David Osei, has said he would have gladly campaigned for opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in the run-up to election 2020 but not for Mahama.

While speaking in an interview with Zionfelix monitored by YEN.com.gh, the actor indicated that he is not happy about ex-president John Dramani Mahama’s candidature as the NDC flag-bearer.

Prince stated that he could not fathom why the opposition political party would choose Mahama to lead them in the forthcoming 2020 general elections.

He mentioned the names of other astute politicians who, in his view, would have made better candidates for the NDC.

According to the award-winning actor, other members of the NDC would have been better fits rather than allowing Mahama to represent the party in the 2020 election.

The actor opined:

If NDC had come up with a different candidate. Let's say Alan (Alban) Bagbin or Ekow Spio-Garbrah or any of those people, I personally would have probably rooted for him.
But this is the situation whereby ex-president Mahama had become president, finished his term and he is coming back and it beats my mind.

The actor did not see the need for the party to bring him back after he has served a term.

Prince David Osei assumed there is a problem with leadership in the party since they have not proven that someone else could have been selected instead of John Mahama.

He queried if there is no better person in the Congress apart from him and added that Mahama should have blessed someone to take the baton from him.

According to him, John Mahama was actively involved in the eight-year administration of the NDC-led government so him coming back makes him question if the NDC does not have capable leaders.
