MTN Ghana fixes 2nd AGM on August 13; meeting to be held virtually

- MTN Ghana is set to organise a virtual Annual General Meeting on August 13, 2020

- The company announced the meeting will be streamed from its head office in Accra

Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) has announced it will hold its second Annual General Meeting (AGM) on August 13, 2020.

YEN.com.gh understands that the meeting will be held virtually and live streamed.

The event will be streamed from the company’s head office at MTN House in Accra from 11 am and the agenda for the meeting has been set.

Issues to be discussed include audited financial statements and the reports of directors and auditors for the year ended December 31, 2019.

The company will also take the opportunity to declare a final dividend and re-elect retiring directors of the company.

MTN Ghana’s shareholders will also take the opportunity to authorise the amendment of the Constitution of the company in compliance with the new Companies Act 2019 (Act 992).

Per a report by citinewsroom.com, the company stated that shareholders can take part in the virtual meeting via www.mtnghagm.com.

The company held its first AGM in May 2019 after being listed on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) on September 5, 2018. It was the first Ghanaian telecoms provider to be listed on the GSE.

The process was successfully completed with the company recording 127,826 shareholders, which is the largest number of Ghanaian shareholders of any listed company on the Exchange.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that mobile telecommunications company, MTN Ghana, has announced a suspension of the payment of dividends to shareholders which was scheduled for Monday, May 25, 2020.

The company also announced that it had postponed its Annual General Meeting that was scheduled for Wednesday, May 13, 2020.

YEN.com.gh understands that the company has tens of thousands of shareholders due to its Initial Public Offering in 2018.
