As the world continues to grapple with the novel coronavirus pandemic, some schools remain closed which has prevented the usual celebration of graduations.

Dr Earl Campbell is among thousands whose graduation ceremonies have been greatly affected by the current state of the world due to the global pandemic.

In a post on social media, Dr Campbell announced he has successfully graduated from his Advanced Interventional Endoscopy fellowship at Yale University

He shared a photo in celebration of his graduation from Yale University with a caption that read:

What do you call a Gastroenterologist, Pharmacist, Pulmonologist, Dentist, and Attorney? Family. Even though my graduation got switched to a Zoom situation, I appreciate my parents & sister still coming in town to celebrate with Mia, the kids, and I.

YEN.com.gh learned that Campbell originally planned to pursue a career in Veterinary Medicine.

However, the death of his aunt during his freshman year coupled with a summer spent in a surgical research lab set him on a different path.

In spite of this, he has successfully completed 12 years of medical training and is ready to contribute to the greater good of the world.

Meanwhile, Campbell noted in a subsequent post that he is the first Black Advanced Endoscopy fellow at Yale University.

He wrote:

Last day of fellowship complete. As the first black Advanced Endoscopy fellow at Yale, I did my best to represent, and I hope I paved the way for those coming behind me. God WILL give you the victory, He just wants the glory.

In another story, Dr Simon, a counselling director at Woodside High School in Newport News Public School, recently graduated from a renowned university with her PhD.

The hardworking woman, who has an intense passion for what she does as an educationist and counsellor, successfully completed her dissertation titled Quasi-School Leaders: The Lived Experiences of High School Counselling Directors and Their Roles in Schools.

In a recent post on Facebook, the Educational Leadership Program at Old Dominion University affirmed that Dr Simon’s dissertation committee members were Dr Karen L. Sanzo (chair), Dr William Owings (committee member), and Dr Tim Grothaus (committee member).
