- The French club are looking to replacing Victor Osimhen with the youngster
Angel Gomes has been handed a career reviving offer by French Ligue 1 side Lille as the London born star now considered as a formidable replacement for Victor Osimhen, SunSport reports.
French outlet RMC Sport are reporting that Lille have claimed they are already in talks with the player’s representatives.
Gomes is currently out of contract after he left Manchester United a month ago as he failed to accept new terms offered by the Old Trafford outfit.
It was gathered that the 19-year-old had been with United since joining their academy at the age of six.
He featured in a total of ten matches for the Red Devils, including six appearances under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer this season.
But despite leaving the Red Devils, Gomes could still get some European action next season as Lille will play in the Europa League.
They finished fourth, just one point off a Champions League place, when the Covid-19 crisis brought the French season to an early end.
The club's coach Christophe Galtier is seeking attacking reinforcements with star frontmen Victor Osimhen and Jonathan Ikone set to leave during the summer.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is close to sealing a €60million move to Italian League giants Napoli this summer.
The Super Eagles attacker has been heavily linked with a move to join Gennaro Gattuso's side on a five-year deal from Ligue 1 side Lille.
Osimhen attracted interests from top European clubs with Jose Mourinho's Tottenham Hotspur also trying their luck for the forward.
But the former Wolfsburg turned down their offer, saying he could not play second fiddle to Harry Kane who is Spurs' choice striker.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that Amaju Pinnick who is the president of the Nigerian Football Federation has stated emphatically that Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen will break Maradona's record at Napoli.
The Nigerian football chief claimed that the player has told him that he is happy going to Napoli and confirmed his readiness to do well in the Italian Serie A.
However, Napoli or Lille have not announced the transfer of Victor Osimhen who scored 18 goals for Lille last season in France.
