Election 2020: 5 NPP constituencies the NDC could easily capture in the December polls

With just a few months to the 2020 general elections which is scheduled per the constitution to take place on December 7, incumbents and first time contenders have some sort of hope in winning and retaining their seats.

Our Manifesto: This is what YEN.com.gh believes in

Until the d-day for the election, candidates would not be entirely confident as to whether or not they would win the elections.

1. Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency

The Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency is one of the strongholds of the New Patriotic Party that can be easily snatched from the incumbent, Lydia Seyram Alhassan. John Dumelo who would be contesting on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, seems to be doing a lot of things in the constituency. His act of deeds would might probably win him the Ayawaso seat.

2. Dome-Kwabenya Constituency

Interestingly, the NPP primaries might be a clear reason why the NPP might loose the seat in 2020. Looking at the vote difference between incumbent MP, Adwoa Safo and her then contender, Mike Ocquaye Jnr, it was obvious the constituents would have preferred a different person. She having to contest again on the ticket of the NPP could easily give out the seat to the NDC if the NDC has a strong candidate.

3. Weija-Gbawe constituency

The NPP can loose the Weija-Gbawe constituency seat due to the incumbent Member of Parliament, Tina Naa Ayeley Mensah. Fact that she went to the primaries without a contender did not augur well with her constituents. Most residents have resolved to

4. Tema-West constituency

Carlos Ahenkorah could possibly loose the elections due to his issue that came up when he was asked to self isolate following his COVID-19 status. If his careless actions meant anything at all, the constituents would change their minds and vote for the NDC

5. Awutu Senya East Constituency

Several groups including IMANI, Occupy Ghana and the National Peace Council have condemned the actions of the Hawa Koomson who happens to be the incumbent MP of the Awutu Senya East Constituency. She admitted to firing a gun 'to protect herself' at a voter registration centre situated at the Step to Christ polling station on Monday (July 20, 2020). This careless and dangerous act could inform electorates to vote her out.

In other news, the founder of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has challenged the credibility of the new voters' register.

According to him, the eligibility of proof that underpinned the recently ended registration undermined the very principle for the government's push to have a new register.

Ayariga added that some people who are not Ghanaian but have the card are vouching for people.
