Our manifesto: This is what YEN.com.gh believes in

Illegal logging which Ghana's laws frown on is what some unpatriotic residents of Klefe, a town in the Ho Municipality are engaging in at the blind side of authorities.

Klefe is a town that looks attractive due to its thick and tall forests and numerous hills and it is home to some illegal loggers.

The popular town is the hometown to the Volta Regional Minister, Dr. Archibald Letsa and is blessed with lots of valuable trees that are on the verge of being completely wiped out if actions are not taken as soon as possible.

The activities of these illegal loggers who often hide from authorities are fast depleting the trees-filled town.

YEN.com.gh’s reporter’s visit to the area reveals the extent of destruction in the forest area which is along Klefe Second Town to Ziavi road.

The area is being destroyed as it suffers in the hands of the loggers who fell the trees indiscriminately.

Many huge trees have been cut and are waiting to be chainsawed into planks whiles others are being worked on by men in the forest.

Lot of "ready for market" planks were also seen in the forest which according to a female resident (name withheld), will be transported out of the forest at night so as to hide the illegal activities from the eyes of the public.

Two male teenagers revealed to the reporter that some time ago, security personnel stormed the area and effected the arrest of some of the illegal loggers' but most of them absconded.

The teenagers revealed this when leading the reporter on the Demate to Akrofu abandoned road where the activities of these illegal loggers are rife and spreading fast.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that founder and leader of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has dropped some serious prophecies on social media with the major one being that of John Mahama’s impending presidency.

The popular prophet took to his Facebook wall to make the five deep prophecies of what he claimed he saw coming.

Chief among his prophecies was the fact that ex-president John Dramani Mahama was going to be the next president of Ghana.
