Former President Jerry John Rawlings has described Prof Kwamena Ahwoi’s ‘Working with Rawlings’ book as a pack of lies and fabrications aimed at destroying him and former First Lady Nana Konadu.

A portion of a long statement from Rawlings read: “The book attempts to chronicle the history of the role Kwamena Ahwoi played as an appointee of the former president, but disappointingly employs fabrications and grapevine accounts to paint a denigrating picture of President Rawlings and his colleagues”.
YEN.com.gh has also compiled four critical and striking things the National Democratic Congress (NDC) founder said.
1. Kwamena Ahwoi pushed sick Mills into 2008 polls
Jerry John Rawlings has accused Prof Kwamena Ahwoi of forcing Prof John Evans Atta Mills to run for President in the 2008 elections even though he had opted to step down due to ill health.
"Mr Kwamena Ahwoi was and is well-known to be one of the master-architects of that manipulative agenda that pushed a very unwell candidate Mills into the 2008 General Elections," the NDC founder alleged.
2. Prof Ahwoi attempting to rewrite history in his book
The former president also stated in his response that Prof. Ahwoi tried hard to twist and re-write history in his book.
3. Nana Konadu had no presidential ambition in 2000
Mr. Rawlings also said it is not true his wife the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings wanted to be a presidential candidate in 2000.
Professor Ahwoi had said in his controversial book ‘Working with Rawlings,’ that Mrs. Rawlings “had been harbouring presidential ambitions and in 2000, had believed that she would be the one her husband, Jerry Rawlings, would hand over to”.
But Jerry Rawlings described that assertion as falsehood.
4. I had a strategy for Ghana - Rawlings
Jerry John Rawlings is fighting off claims by former Local Government Minister, Prof. Kwamena Ahwoi, that he lacked a plan on how to strategically develop Ghana.
Prof. Ahwoi in his book “Working with Rawlings” claimed that the NDC founder did not understand the many technical issues that were debated during cabinet meetings.
He also accused Mr. Rawlings of playing with toys or looking through the window during cabinet meetings.
YEN.com.gh earlier reported that the vice-presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has hinted that the manifesto of the biggest opposition party will address all the needs of teachers and nurses in the country.
The NDC running mate further assured teachers and nurses of enhanced remuneration when they come into power in 2021.
