Family of deceased worried as Ofankor landlord vanishes into thin air

The Abeka District Court has appealed to the family of the late Benjamin Okyere, who was murdered by his landlord, Stephen Nana Kamkam to exercise patience as investigations into the whereabouts of the suspect are conducted

The father of the deceased has told the court that his family lives in fear since Kamkam, who was remanded by the court into custody cannot be traced in any of the prisons.

Checks conducted by the family of the deceased at Nsawam and Ankaful prisons showed that the accused was not incarcerated.

Joseph Okyere, father of the deceased, said his fears and that of the family were confirmed after the accused’s mother stated that her son would never sleep in jail and she would make sure he was released.

Due to the allegations raised by the deceased father, the court adjourned the matter to September 9 to enable the case investigator to come and answer questions from the court.

According to the court, it cannot wait for two weeks following the allegations, GNA reports.

YEN.com.gh earlier reported that a landlord by the name Victor Stephen Nana Kankam allegedly shot and killed a budding musician, Spark Benjamine, at Ofankor, a suburb in Accra.

According to a report by Myjoyonline.com, the landlord murdered his tenant because he refused to vacate a room he rented out to him.

The incident happened on May 25, 2020.

The victim was initially rushed to the police station with multiple injuries before he was subsequently transported to the Police Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

The landlord, who was arrested for killing his tenant over his refusal to vacate his property, justified the cause for his action.

According to him, he killed his tenant in self-defense
