Singer Ed Sheeran announces birth of daughter Lyra

The shape of You hitmaker Ed Sheeran is the new celebrity dad in town, YEN.com.gh can authoritatively report.

The musician's wife Cherry Seaborn welcomed a bouncing baby girl on in late August but the couple remained mum about the good news.

The great news was first made public by Sheeran through his official Instagram account about a week after the delivery.

In a long post seen by YEN.com.gh, excited Sheeran disclosed he was over the moon, together with his wife.

Sheeran confirmed they had named their newborn Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran.

''Ello! A quick message from me as I have some personal news that I wanted to share with you... Last week, with the help of an amazing delivery team, Cherry gave birth to our beautiful and healthy daughter - Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran. We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here.'' he wrote.

He thanked the team that helped his wife deliver and also noted that they now needed privacy and that fans should humbly accord them the same.

''We hope that you can respect our privacy at this time. Lots of love and I’ll see you when it’s time to come back, Ed x,'' he added.

Following his post, his fans and other social media users thronged the comments section to congratulate the couple for their blessing.

Ed and Cherry have been together for some years now and are believed to have walked down the aisle secretly in 2019 although they never shared much details about it.

The singer hinted about their wedding through a YouTube video about No.6 Collaborations Project in which he referred to Cherry as his “wife”.
