Highlife sensation, Kuami Eugene, known in private life as Eugene Marfo, has presented the awards he won at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) to his pastor.

In what surprised many Ghanaians on social media, the Obiaa To hitmaker emerged as the artiste of the Year at the 21st edition VGMA held on Saturday, August 29, 2020.

He pipped the likes of Sarkodie, Medikal, Kofi Kinaata, and Diana Hamilton to pick the award, which happens to be the topmost VGMA award.

Apart from picking the main award, Eugene also won in the Highlife Artiste of the Year category making him a recipient of two awards on the night.

As someone coming from a strong Christian background, Eugene, a Presbyterian, who worships with the Charis Congregation at Fadama, decided to go and show his awards in church.

Photos sighted by YEN.com.gh show the 23-year-old with his pastor, Reverend Alfred Owusu Boateng and others, in church on Sunday, September 6, 2020.

In some of the photos, Eugene who was dressed in white is seen holding one of the awards while the pastor held the other.

In other photos, the pastor was seen leading a group of people to pray for Kuami Eugene while he stood in their midst with his head bowed.

For those who do not know, Kuami Eugene started his music career as a gospel singer and as reported by YEN.com.gh in the past, he released songs including Nyame Ayebi, Kotodwe Nyinaa, Heaven, among others.

Meanwhile, Kuami Eugene has also given reverence to the Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharabutu, by presenting the new awards to him.

The Angela hitmaker, in a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, was seen at the residence of the Chief Imam Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, to inform him of his recent success.

After announcing his mission and showing off his award, Kuami Eugene was prayed for the revered Islamic cleric.

Kuami Eugene paid a courtesy call on the top cleric as is the custom of anyone in the neighbourhood who tastes victory.
