A dad from New Zealand is guilty of letting his emotions get the better of him after he totalled his car under avoidable circumstances.

Andrew John Earl, who owned a GHc 1.4m replica Ford GT40, wanted to look cool in the eyes of his teenage daughter’s new lover.

According to Otago Daily Times, the dad met with his 16-year-old’s partner while driving a Porsche 911 then gave the young boy a tour of his sports car collection.

The two then left in Earl’s Ford GT40 as the chap attempted to show his daughter’s new catch how powerful his machine was.

While flexing his muscles and trying to look like a chilled out father, the man sped through traffic and swerved into the left lane.

The 48-year-old was attempting to overtake a vehicle that was ahead of him when he lost control and crashed into a barrier.

One of the doors flung off and the whole vehicle was mangled into an unrecognisable wreck.

To make matters worse, Earl had to deal with a KSh 3 million damage as he had not insured his sports car.

A judge banned the dad from driving for eight months and asked him to pay a fine of GHc 8,600

"It was most definitely not my proudest moment. I am really happy no one got hurt. It could have been worse," Earl said.

In other news, a South African man who had just bought a new VW Polo was spotted on video crashing his car moments after leaving the car dealership.

The driver seemed to know what he was doing until he crashed into a wall right outside the dealership.

The car was brand new and the excitement to drive it was evident but sadly, adrenaline caused the man a buttload of cash.

The video uploaded by a tweep only known as JnzBeats had people squirming in pain as he watched all that money go to waste.

Before the accident, the car swerved then eventually rammed onto the wall. It then flipped onto its roof after the driver lost control.
