Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Nana Yaw Amponsah is alleged to have threatened to resign from his position a month down the line.
According to a report by Myjoyonline.com, the new Kotoko CEO is frustrated by the interference of some members of his board.
Mr. Yaw Amponsah is of the view that he may not be able to achieve and meet his target if the interference continues.
The news of Mr. Amponsah’s purported decision comes as a surprise to many Ghanaians, especially supports fans.
An example of interference cited is that some board members grant interviews with the media in their personal capacities for the club.
Joy Sports sources also said there was a fracas between Nana Yaw Amponsah and a board member, Dr. Kofi Abban.
The feud was a result of the board member promising to establish Kotoko TV, without consultation with CEO and other board members.
It is also alleged that the renovation of the Adako Jachie training complex has not started due to disagreement between the CEO and the board. According to the source, Amponsah had negotiated a good deal with the engineers but the board went to engage the engineers on a different plan.
Mr. Yaw Amponsah is certainly not happy and may resign.
It is also believed that Board Chairman, Dr. Kwame Kyei, and his vice, Jude Arthur, are also considering stepping down, as they have been sidelined as well.
Mr. Nana Yaw Amponsah was outdoored by the patron and owner of the club, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on August 7, 2020.
