Celebrated Black Panther actor Chadwick Boseman was buried near his South Carolina hometown just six days after he died at his home in Los Angeles.

The is reported to have been laid to rest on September 3, at Welfare Baptist Church Cemetery and residents of the town hosted a public memorial to celebrate his life a day after he was buried.

According to a report by Yahoo, the star's death certificate listed the immediate cause of his death as multiple organ failure with the underlying cause of colon cancer.

The report further indicated Boseman had surgery to remove the colon cancer in 2016 after his diagnosis.

In March of 2019, he had laparoscopic surgery to remove cancer that had metastasized.

The document is reported to have listed the actor's profession as an artist in the entertainment industry.

The Sun published photos of the gathering in Malibu, California.

In addition to Boseman’s wife, Taylor Simone Ledward, several of Boseman's co-stars, including Michael B. Jordan and Lupita Nyong’o, attended the memorial.

Photographs of the gathering showed a photo of the 43-year-old actor on display with a floral arrangement.

The memorial service included music from a hang drum.

The celebration was held at an outdoor amphitheatre that practised the CDC’s social distancing and mask-wearing guidelines.

Boseman, best known for playing the Marvel superhero, died at his home near Griffith Park in Los Angeles.

In the wake of his death, countless Hollywood tributes poured in, including a touching note from 33-year-old Jordan.

“I’ve been reflecting on every moment, every conversation, every laugh, every disagreement, every hug…everything. I wish we had more time,” he posted to Instagram.

He is most recently remembered for his inspiring performance as King T'Challa in the 2018 film Black Panther,

He, however, first appeared as the powerful character in the 2016 MCU flick Captain America: Civil War.
