Kasoa-Cape Coast highway: 5 people dead; 7 others injured in accident at Gomoa Adam

The rate at which road accidents occur on our roads is quite alarming.
Within a space of eight days, the 19 persons have lost their lives to road accidents through no fault of theirs.
YEN.com.gh can report that five people have died on the spot in an accident at Gomoa Adam, near Gomoa Anteadze, on the Kasoa-Cape Coast highway.
Seven out of the 14 people who were involved in the accident have sustained various degrees and in critical condition and were rushed to the Apam Catholic Hospital.
Per a report filed by Joy News, the accident was the result of a head-on collision of two passenger cars, a Ford Transit with the Registration number GS 6031- 20 and a Toyota Hiace with the Registration Number GR 5059-20.

An eyewitness and survivor of the accident who was aboard the Toyota Hiace that was en route Cape Coast blamed the driver of the Ford Transit for the accident.
According to him, the Ford Transit's driver wrongly overtook another vehicle while speeding and this resulted in the clash with the Toyota Hiace.
Meanwhile, the Medical Superintendent of the Apam Catholic Hospital, Dr. Paul Acha said that the seven people who were in critical condition have been stabilised.
The five bodies have, however, been taken to the hospital for preservation and identification.
As always, most of the road carnages are as a result of the carelessness on the part of some drivers and their non-adherence to road traffic regulations.
Other causative factors could be bad road networks and poor rood signages.
Statistics from the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD) of the Ghana Police Service for the 16 regions in Ghana have shown that in January 2020 alone, 222 people lost their lives in road carnages.

On September, 15, 2020, 10 people died in an accident at Kyekyewere on the Accra-Kumasi Highway.
Over 80 other passengers of a Yutong bus and an STC bus were also injured in the accident, which occurred in the early hours of the day.
The accident occurred after a cargo truck loaded with fertiliser crashed into two passenger buses.
