Kanye West has continued with his Twitter rant over his frustrations with the music industry. The star left many fans in disbelief when he posted a video of himself literally peeing on one of his Grammy awards in a toilet bowl.
The star has made it clear on the micro-blogging app that he wants to be freed from all his recording contracts. The billionaire rapper revealed that he won't release new music until he is freed from his contracts with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Universal.
The star revealed this in a tweet on Monday. He has deleted the tweet. He captioned the graphic video where he urinates on his Grammy:
"Trust me ... I WON'T STOP."
The footage has been viewed over 22.5 million times since he posted it just over 13 hours ago (at the time of publishing). The Can't Tell Me Nothing rapper even called on other musicians such as Bono, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift to assist him in his cause.
The star has also posted some of the contracts he allegedly has with Universal. He wrote after posting the contracts online:
"I wonder if Universal gonna call me... I promise I have more ideas ... I will not stop I PROMISE YOU ON GOD."
Check out some of the comments from shook tweep who came across the footage of Kanye doing his thing on one of his Grammy awards.
"Please get help. You are not okay dude."
"You can flush your career, legacy, and respect down the toilet but Grammies... not so much."
"You have a problem. @KimKardashian he needs help."
"I don’t want to hear in the future how you're not being treated fairly in the music business. Let’s say in the future you create the greatest album ever made and you don’t even get nominated for a Grammy, you sealed your own fate by this diss."
Still on Kanye, Briefly.co.za reported that Kanye expressed that his music masters are worth more than those of singer Taylor Swift.
The US rapper also tweeted that artists deserve to own their masters because they "are starving without tours". He asked artists to pray for him as he was on a journey to get all their masters. Ye also shared that when musicians sign a music deal, they sign away their rights.
"Without the masters you can’t do anything with your own music. Someone else controls where it’s played and when it’s played. Artists have nothing except the fame, touring and merch."
Popsugar.com described a music master as the jargon used to refer to the underlying rights to a song. Literally, the "master recording" is the original version from which everything else stems. This also means that the holder of the master has control over the financial gains from the recordings as well, according to popsugar.com.
