Media personality, Captain Smart, has waded into the controversy surrounding the infamous fake UN award scandal that has rocked some personalities.
Speaking in a video sighted by YEN.com.gh, Captain Smart defended the man behind the award scheme, Dr Fordjour, popularly known as Dr UN.
According to him, the award is not fake in the sense that Dr UN never claimed to present it under the auspices of the United Nation, but rather, in his capacity as a Ghanaian who wished to honour those doing well in the country.
He revealed that in the citation, Dr UN vividly stated that he was instituting the award in honour of Kofi Annan because of what he did for Ghana.
Captain Smart was, therefore, not happy as he mentioned Sarkodie’s name saying the rapper has rejected the award because he doesn’t know anything.
He added that all those who speak ill about the award have not made any impact and did not deserve it; stressing that: “As for me, I like the award today, tomorrow, and tomorrow next.”
Dr UN himself was present in the studios of Angel FM, where the interview was ongoing. He was not happy about a song that was composed with his name following the hullabaloo his award scheme caused.
He admitted that the song was nice, however, he did not like the part the calls him a “scammer of scammers” and wanted that portion taken out of the song.
“The song is good, you are smart, but the part that says I am a scammer, I don’t like it,” Dr UN said.
Dr UN trended massively after giving some selected personalities awards that are now called “fake UN awards".
The personalities were selected from diverse fields and included the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Berla Mundi, Alban Bagbin, just to mention a few of the 22 people who make up the list.
